As far as maintaining the roll established by the previous Captain is concerned we cast that notion aside early as the feel of things on the off shore grounds was obviously different. Not that there wasn't sign of fish around in the early morning. As I mentioned however the feel of things, which is probably a description that is too vague in scope, indicated a change in the mood of the fish in this zone. Basically they appeared to shift into a deep water mode coming up to the surface only for brief periods later in the day. Accurate or not my observations didn't add up to much when it came to production though I feel that there is still a very good amount of fish to be caught in the lower zone. There will be plenty of fantastic fishing, probably sooner than later, in the lower off shore areas. Right now the majority of fish that are around are just down. By mid afternoon the writing was on the wall and we began sliding south to set up the fishing day tomorrow. Like most fishing moves it is a gamble but recent catches and reports from our colleagues on the grounds have us feeling optimistic about our chances. We will see.

At the very least we will enjoy a change of scenery spending a day at the island in search of yellowtail and whatever else we can drum up. The off shore grounds are on back burner for now but certainly in our game plan for the final day back up the line. We have a few fish in the hatch from today's effort but will certainly feel better when more space in the tanks is occupied. The pressure is on.
