We covered plenty of ground in search mode today both near shore and on the outside for scant results in the hatch. We did find action, we did enjoy a fine day of beautiful weather, and we did set ourselves up for the next move maximizing fishing time in the process.

Other than catching a worthy amount of keeper game fish, the day was a success. The voyage has only begun however and a good weather forecast combined with favorable reports is fueling an optimistic outlook both on the bridge and down on deck.

We will see if results tomorrow fall in line with expectations. I certainly hope so.

Not much to report from our first day traveling down. Good weather, good conditions, a well prepared, enthusiastic group of anglers, and plenty of time to prepare our gear and enjoy a little relaxation as well. After a much enjoyed night ashore, we are back out and underway south with a fantastic group of veteran Royal Star anglers on board. Our bait is as perfect as one could desire providing a wide range of options as we head back down the Baja coast in search of what we hope will be at least comparable to the three fantastic catches made on the October 2008 ten day voyages.
