After a much enjoyed night ashore, we are back out and underway south with a fantastic group of veteran Royal Star anglers on board. Our bait is as perfect as one could desire providing a wide range of options as we head back down the Baja coast in search of what we hope will be at least comparable to the three fantastic catches made on the October 2008 ten day voyages. There are certainly plenty of good prospects. We will keep you posted on our progress as this ten day voyage sponsored by Larry Fancher unfolds.

Keeping with tradition, my first day voyage report is almost always accompanied by a few thoughts I have and offer for your consideration, entertainment, and in some cases, education. Today's topic is honesty and integrity - particularly in daily website fishing reports.

These reports are a direct representation of our fishing and business philosophy, as well as our character and standards. A while back I heard tell of some shenanigans between vessels out here spilling over in the form of red herrings in the daily reports. Not here. It hasn't and won't happen when Brian, Randy, or I run the boat. What you read in these reports is factual and accurate. It always has been and always will be.

That doesn't mean that there won't be an occasional omission as we consistently battle to obscure details of good tuna fishing from the relentless, ruthless commercial purse seine tuna fleet. Too many times we have experienced the immense pain of watching an area of good biting tuna destroyed by forgetting the number one rule out here of self preservation. But, in my opinion, there is no call for any reporting that damages or brings into question the integrity of an operation and/or the credibility of information being provided.
