Fish Report for 7-22-2004
We finally had a chance to do a little fishing from a stopped boat yesterday enjoying a fine afternoon of scratch angling on nice grade yellowtail. The pace was far from hot and heavy but steady with what seemed to be at least one or to fish hooked all the time. The morning was a different story with lots of moving and drifting mainly necessary to stay ahead of the ferocious pack of local mammals that have rained on our parade on so many occasions this season. As it turned out, the day was a success and we headed up at dark joining the rest of our friends offshore in the continuing offshore pursuit.

7-21-2004Once again stark contrast is the offshore theme as the albacore so prolific yesterday all but disappeared today. If there is any one thing about this season I can pass to anglers on upcoming voyages it is the fact that when an opportunity arises, take advantage of the fact to the fullest extent as there is no guarantee on what awaits the following day. This was more like it today with a strong showing on good grade albacore beginning with the traditional quick hits and sporadic indications in the morning that developed into good stops and steady action as the day progressed into evening. Boy after the last couple of days and the results of our searching down below it was especially sweet to see these big, fat albacore coming over the rail in good quantities again. Now of course we hope it holds...... Read More
