Fish Report for 5-20-2004
Not the banner finale we were hoping for but a nice day nonetheless. Bruce started us off again this morning with a 210 which was followed by a slow scratch the rest of the day for a total of 12 fish from 110-180. We also had 20 wahoo mixed in which added excitement to the day.
We are presently traveling into the cape in decent weather and should arrive early on the 23rd.
Tim and I have decided to make this trip a ride down/ride back 16 day next year which will give us the same amount of fishing time at the bank, and the option of trying for bluefin on the way home. With the islands not an option, this trip makes a lot more sense.
The overall grade of fish this trip was incredible with 18 over 200 and 32 from 170-197. We didn't rack up the big numbers but that is what these long trips are all about, the quest for trophy yellowfin.
Our final shot shows Ken Wang who has taken many big fish with me over the years with a 207.
Our anglers with fish over 200lbs:
Bruce Posthumus 230,220,210 (released)
Craig Drummond 215
Donny Maxwell 250,230
Rod Hoffman 278,216
Mark Gavasse 225
Anastasia Schmoll 209,207
Victor Ness 200
Len Cunningham 207
Bill Kuehl 261,206
Tim Williams 217,202
Ken Wang 207

5-19-2004Bruce started off the day with another released cow we estimated at 220-225 taken on a scad from Alijos. I'm sure this is the first time anyone has released two over 200 in a trip, on purpose anyway. The rest of the day fell right into place with nice steady scratching on beautiful grade fish. Our total was 20 for the day, 15 of which were 130-195 with 5 over 200 including Bruce's fish. Needless to say we're on cloud...... Read More

Very slow today but we did land a few nice ones. Bill Kuehl landed a mean 260 after a long battle in the skiff and veteran long ranger Bruce Posthumus released an estimated 230-240 at sundown. Bruce has landed numerous 200lbers over the years and now gets more pleasure letting them go, it was quite a sight to watch that big cow swim away. With two days left we're hoping it turns on. Today's shot shows Bill with his 260. ...... Read More
