Monterey Bay Fish Report 08-31-07

8-31-2007
Bayside Marine

The Salmon fishing was a little slower but there were a few fish caught in the Soquel Hole. The Halibut fishing was good for the anglers who worked up the coast in 45-80 feet of water. There was a 40 pound Halibut caught today by a friend of mine. The Rockcod fishing was good up at Ano Nuevo but the wind made it hard to stay on the fish. The Rockcod fishing was a little easier near Natural Bridges because the wind is blowing. There were a few boats who ran out for Albacore and a few who turned around due to the 15 knots of wind. The scores ranged from 3-15 fish near the Guide and near 37'00/123'00. The wind was not bad to troll in but it was bouncy on the way back. The wind may be up in the morning we will have to check the buoys in the morning.

The fishing for Albacore was decent for some and good for others today. I fished at 37'00/123'01 to 37'00/122'06 and ended the day with 10 fish and lost a few on bait and troll. The best thing I have ever seen was witness by another boat when a 350 Lb. Swordfish skyrocketed out of the air tail walking! There are Swordfish around I may start targeting them instead of Albacore. There was a good bite first thing in the morning....... Read More

There were some good scores of Salmon caught in the Soquel Hole. The Halibut bite was decent in Davenport. Better come fishing while the water is flat. ...... Read More
