Channel Islands Sportfishing
Staying out of the wind.. our morning boats fished north of the harbor off the coast of Caprenteria. Up there they had great ocean conditions and caught better than expected numbers of rockfish. The quality of the rockfish today was also reported to be really good. Our 3/4 day Gentleman even caught a nice White Seabass while fishing up there. All the anglers returning from trips today came back with nice bags of fillets, saying they had a great time. We also had 4 overnight boats fishing the outer islands. They continued there assault on the lingcod and big rockfish. The weather offshore was great simply because the East winds didn't reach any farther than Santa Cruz Island. If your on a mission to fill your freezer for the off season, now is the time to go!
Today's Fish Count: 11 boats and 211 anglers
1780 Rockfish, 156 Lingcod, 44 Sheephead, 54 Ocean Whitefish, 3 Rock Sole, 1 Calico Bass, 5 Sand Bass, 15 Bonito, 1 Halibut, 1 White Seabass, 10 Rock Crab and 1 Lobster (released).
