Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

10-30-2014
Larry Edwards

An excellent fishing report from Puerto Morelos for this past week that reflected a mixed-bag catch of a 16 specie variety. There were a total of 32 days fished that reflected 8 dorado, 24 giant barracuda, 5 blackfin tuna, 2 needle fish, 105 bonito, 1 king mackerel, 1 shark, 1 jack crevalle, 1 Spanish mackerel, 2 porgy, 2 triggerfish, 13 chac-chi, 23 snappers, 65 banana fish, 1 soap fish and 19 grouper. Every day offered a wide variety catch and would depend on the angling groups choices while aboard the sportfishers.

PM Climate: Early week was mostly cloudy with scattered showers, mid week was sunny and end of the week was back to partly cloudy days with a chance for more showers. Air temps from 69 nights to 83 daytime highs with a 70% humidity factor.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps were stable at 80-81 degrees throughout the area.

Best Bait: The seemingly always available ballyhoo continue to be the bait of choice for all of the crews and anglers.

Bait Availability: Always available for the fishing crews and anglers.
