Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

10-23-2014

No Report Received from Puerto Morelos for Fishing and it's probably due to the week's wet weather conditions for the past week?

It's been a rather wet and rainy week from Puerto Morelos and the rains continue as the result of Topical Depression 9, (TD-9) that has moved across from the Bay of Campeche and appears to be fizzling out as it passes over the mountains. This unusual movement of TD-9 actually began in the Pacific and moved across Mexico into the Bay of Campeche and now moves easterly, across the peninsula, leaving plenty of wet weather in it's track and Puerto Morelos has received their fair share. Rain is still in the forecast but drying out for the coming weekend. This is the first storm reversal I have seen since reporting for this area, contradicting the typical easterly surface winds that flow across from the African continent. Certainly an unusual pattern to have a storm birthed in the Pacific, cross over to the Caribbean and continue the west to east flow.

PM Climate: Temps ranged from 72 nights to 88 daytime highs and a 94% humidity rate. Mostly cloudy days with a bit of passing sunshine periods and scattered rains and thunderstorms. Surface winds continue to flow in mostly from the northeasterly directions.

Sea Conditions: The temps have remained good and stable through this wet period, holding at 82-83 degrees and northerly surface breezes to 16 mph.
