The billfish bite continues at a billfish per boat day fished on the average but some of the better bite boats had multiple billfish releases through the week along with rounding out their catches with a few dorado, yellowfin tuna and even a wahoo in the mix. We also had our first black marlin of the season show up in the count, taken aboard the "Gaviota I", that checked in under 250 lbs. The overall fish counts for a total of 25 combined fishing days reflected 3 blue marlin, 1 black marlin, 3 sailfish, (released) 18 stripers, (17 released) 20 dorado, 1 wahoo and 11 yellowfin tuna, (school sized fish).


Cabo Climate: A mostly sunny & warm week with near picture perfect weather that ranged from 71 nights to 91 daytime highs and a 55% humidity ratio.

Sea Conditions: As good as the weather! A mostly calm week with light surface breezes that ranged from calm to 10 mph and flowing in from the southeasterly directions. The Pacific side, from the Finger Bank to the Golden Gate Bank, down across the Jaime Bank and in to the beach at Cristobal Ridge, the temps were stable at 80-81 degrees. From the Cristobal Ridge to Cabo San Lucas, around the corner and up to Los Frailes, temps rose to 83-84 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: The Pacific side was best and the specific hot-spots were the Herradura and the Jaime Bank areas.

Best Bait/Lure: Artificials for the blue/black marlin, live bait for the stripers and sailfish. Artificials, rigged baits, live baits for the dorado a few stripers. Feathers and cedar plugs for the yellowfin tuna.

Live Bait Supply: Good supply of live bait at the $3.00 per bait rate.
