The fishing is changing a little in the Mazatlan area and while no blue or black marlin have yet shown up, other fish have and reflects a plus-sided change to the better. The offshore fishing has been good for the cruisers and this past week produced 10 sailfish and 13 dorado for the offshore waters. The inshore super pangas, reporting in for 4 days fished, (2 were offshore fishing days) that resulted in 3 sailfish, (2 released) 30 jack crevalle, 4 corvina, 4 black snook and 4 red snappers. The big changes were seeing the jack crevalle, corvina and snook show up in the warmer waters.


Mazatlan Climate: A mostly cloudy week with a couple of days of sunshine mixed in and rain coming on Sunday. Temps varied from 74 nights to 93 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Water temps holding very stable at 88-89 from inshore to offshore. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the westerly directions ranged from calm to 13 mph.

Best Fishing Area: The area starting at about 15 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, with the boats working outbound in the southerly directions from there.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits are producing the billfish and most of the dorado.

Bait Supply: Readily available with both, live bait at $1.00 per bait and fresh baits for rigging, provided as part of the charters
