What a difference a week can make in the fishing. The dorado bite soared this past week and for the offshore fishing was an average of 7-plus dorado per day and the inshore fishing wound up being limit fishing. It readily appears that the dorado season is here for it's annual excitement for the anglers and while the billfish counts fell off, it won't be long until the black & blue marlin move in to munch on one of their favorite foods, the dorado. Most of the dorado being caught right now are smaller fish, mostly in the 10-12 lb. ranges and there are significant numbers gathering under some of the buoys and eager to bite. This would and could be a fly fisherman's delight and smaller bass casters would find this fabulous fun fishing. The overall fish counts for seven offshore fishing days reflected a single sailfish and 51 dorados and the inshore super pangas reporting in for two fishing days reflected limits of dorado, 12 red snapper, 15 triggerfish and 10 rock perch.


Mazatlan Climate: Lots of sunshine with a few passing clouds. Temps are near perfect and ranged from 72 nights to 91 daytime highs.


Sea Conditions: Temps were pretty stable at 84-85 degrees throughout the area and ranging from inshore to offshore waters. Surface breezes were very light in the mornings and ranged to about 16 mph in the afternoons, flowing in mostly from the southerly directions.


Best Fishing Area: The dorado action is taking off at the buoys and the numbers are building by the day.


est Bait/Lure: The sailfish was taken on a rigged bait. The dorado want to bite at the smaller artificials and strip baits.


Bait Supply: Remains excellent for both live bait and fresh rigging baits. Live bait continues at the $1.00 per bait rate.
