According to Captain Temo Verboonen, there is almost no anglers at the pier these days which translates into no fish action reports for so much of the area. The few boats that are getting out report excellent fishing for big roosterfish, (30-50-plus pounds) and some bigger groupers in the inshore areas and the better sailfish and marlin action having moved out to the 30 mile mark. Temo maintains that we are rapidly approaching the rainy season for the area and of course, with the rainy season also comes the possibility for the chubascos, (hurricane weather) but usually, that type of condition enhances the fishing possibilities for fishing as the water temps invite the black and blue marlin into the local waters and usually, we see an increase in dorado action, too.

IZ Climate: Mostly a cloudy week that shaded the area from the sunshine but still, warm nights and days that ranged from 75-93 degrees.

Sea Conditions: Calm seas to wind-ripple breezes at about 10 mph, all flowing in from the Southwest. Inshore temps now at 84 and increasing to 85-86 n the offshore waters.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about the 30 miles mark for the billfish and Pantla & Valentine beaches for the roosterfish.

Best Bait/Lures: Live bait working very well for the inshore fishing for the roosterfish. Rigged baits working well in the offshore waters for the billfish.

Bait Supply: Even with the full moon, the bait supply remains plentiful for both, live bait at $5.00 per dozen and free fresh baits for rigging.
