Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

No white marlin this week which is unusual for the Month of May but still, plenty of May left to make the catch. The sailfish and dorado counts were moving upward and right on schedule. The overall fish counts for a total of 47 days/trips reflected 11 sailfish, 17 dorado, 81 bonito, 18 blackfin tuna, 1 wahoo, 2 giant barracuda, 28 snappers, 10 cuchas, (a bottom reef fish) 13 banana fish, 26 triggerfish, 3 strawberry fish and 45 grouper.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days with a fair mix of sunshine through the week and temps that varied from 77 nights to 88 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Temps doing very well and stable at 82-83 degrees throughout the area. Surface winds mostly from the easterly directions from 10-17 mph, light wind chop but very fishable with exception to one port closure day due to rough water and windy conditions.
Best Bait: The bait situation has not changed in this area since we started booking boats there, more than 7 years ago. The everyday choice of fresh rigging baits continues to be the ballyhoo, provided in a variety of sizes for the various sportfishing operations from the Marina El Cid.
