Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

It has been a really fun fishing week from Puerto Morelos, providing another wide spectrum of mixed bag fishing results for the various anglers and charters with good surface action as well as bottom fishing. The boats reported in for a total of 35 days fished with charters from 4 to 8-hours that reflected a 16 fish variety, including 11 sailfish, 3 dorado, 5 giant barracuda, 3 Spanish mackerel, 70 bonito, 1 wahoo, 1 blackfin tuna, 1 jack crevalle, 4 amberjack, 7 strawberry fish, 2 pilot fish, 34 triggerfish, 19 banana fish, 7 grumpy, 9 soap fish and 68 snappers.


PM Climate: Mostly cloudy but warm days with light breezes and temps that varied from 69 nights to 89 daytime highs.


Sea Conditions: A much improved week with temps stable at 81-82 degrees and surface winds flowing from the east from calm to about 12 mph.


Best Bait: The freshly caught and provided ballyhoo baits continue to be the anglers and crews choice for the area and are being provided an a variety of sizes.


Bait Supply: The supply of freshly caught ballyhoo has been uninterrupted since we began reporting for this area, barring hurricane periods.
