In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

The lake will be closed during the weekdays and open weekends only through the fall. We will re-open for weekday fishing on December 14th. Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake record for Catfish which was set just three weeks, or so, ago has already been eclipsed. Gerardo Balderas from Queretaro, Mexico hauled in the 47.25# monster Catfish on Saturday and it required a group effort just to get it to the scales. The new record Catfish was caught west of Senior Shoreline on cornmeal dough-bait and was released back into the lake. Whether or not this record will make it through the fall is anybody's guess. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Drop by the ranger station for an excellent dough-bait recipe that works well for either Catfish or Carp.

Bass are biting in the early mornings and late afternoons. The Bass are most often caught near rocky outcroppings and are hitting shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
