In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

The lake will be closed during the weekdays and open weekends only through the fall. We will re-open for weekday fishing on December 14th. Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Another big Catfish was caught on Sunday. Bond Sengsouly of Escondido caught a 25.60# at the West Buoys using cut mackerel. It was around the same time last year that the big cats started their feeding frenzy. The most popular baits for Catfish are chicken liver or cut mackerel. There is a doughbait recipe at the ranger station that works well for both Catfish and Carp.

Small to medium sized Bass are biting mostly in the early mornings and late afternoons. The Bass are most often caught near rocky outcroppings and are hitting shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
