Brian Evans docked Mike Keating's Spirit of Adventure at H&M Landing August 4 after a seven-day trip into southern Baja waters. His 20 anglers had a nice catch of yellowfin tuna, wahoo and yellowtail.
"It was good fishin'," said Evans. "That's all I've got to say."
The biggest tuna of the trip won the jackpot. John Prusinskas of Escondido bagged a 69-pound yellowfin with a sardine on a 4/0 ringed Super Mutu hook and 50-pound P-Line for first place. He said he used a Penn 16 S reel and a Calstar 665 H rod, and the fight lasted 20 minutes.
Gary Walker of Simi Valley was second for a 66-pound tuna. Bob Borrell of Camarillo chucked out a red and silver Cherry Bomb on 40-pound Ande line, and 35 minutes later brought to gaff a 62-pound wahoo.
