Mike Keating brought his Spirit of Adventure home to H&M Landing July28 after a three-day trip to nearby offshore waters.
"They're still there," he said. "Plenty of good-sized albacore, but they just won't get with the program."
Steve Lewis of Irvine won first place for a 33.7-pound longfin. He said it took a sardine on a 2/0 Mutu hook on 30-pound P-Line. He fished with a Daiwa 30 reel and a Sabre six-foot rod.
Dick Clark (Yes, he's heard that one before) of San Diego won second place for a 30.9-pound albie, and Todd McKay of San Diego won third place for a 33-pounder.
