Tuna Chasers Catch

Shogun docked at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 4, because Fisherman's Landing was busy with several boats. Norm Kagawa led the six-day trip to Cedros Island on the NorCal Tuna Chasers charter. Bill Morimoto was chartermaster.
Steve Tagaki of San Jose won first place for a whopper 47.8-pound yellowtail.
"I got it on a sardine," he said. "My hook was a 2/0 circle hook by Eagle Claw, and I used 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader with 60-pound Line One Spectra on my Accurate 270 two-speed reel. I had a five and a half-foot Trevala rod."
Jason Segers of Santa Cruz was second, for a 42.8-pounder, and Tony LeBonvea of Santa Cruz won third place, for a 38.6-pound yellowtail.
