t was a good day on the "premium" grade yellowtail here at Cedros island. The fish were biting the fly-lined baits and surface iron with gusto, and our weather was flat calm. Life is good here aboard Shogun and the Nor-cal tuna chasers are making the most of it.

7-31-2007The fishing here at Cedros is alot of fun. Yellowtail splashing around, guys getting rocked or wraped up in kelp stringers and fish in the 20 to 35 pound class coming over the rail. Its just great to come down here, get a sunburn, throw surface iron until your arm(elbow in my case) is sore, laugh and giggle, yell and curse, tangle and untangle, use big tackle and big bait. Here on Shogun we had a splendid day of hopping kelp paddys. As I stated in my podcast tonight on www.BigFishHappen.com it is a pleasant surprise at the amount of dorado we are seeing this early in the year. In this same area we are catching yellowtail and some smaller yellowfin tuna. As the albacore are moving out this new wave of fish should keep everyone(1 day and 1-1/2 day boats) with smiles on their faces. The weather treated us...... Read More
