Skipper Aaron Remy docked Searcher at Fisherman's landing after a three-day trip with 22 anglers August 15.
Dylan Haste, 10 years old, won first place for a 20.8-pound yellowtail. It wasn't Dylan's first appearance in the lineup, either. He said he spent 15 minutes on the fish after it took his sardine on a 2/0 Flyliner hook. He used 30-pound blue Izorline, a Penn 975 reel and a seven-foot Sabre rod. Dylan goes to Carter Elementary in Palm Desert, and plays baseball there.
Dylan's dad Remus of Palm Desert won second place, for a 20.6-pound yellow, and Evan Hashimoto of Mission Viejo won third place for a 20-pound yellowtail. Evan is 16, and goes to Santa Margarita High in Rancho Santa Margarita, where he plays tennis.
