Fish Report for 9-3-2013

The top water bite is just coming on at Lake Jennings

Hello from your Lake Jennings! Best chance for Bass continues to be the first few hours of daylight and the last hour of daylight. Finally, the water temp has topped the 80's with a top water bite starting to take place. We did have reports of two's and three's being caught but no limits.

The Wipers are becoming more active each week with a growing appetite. Those that did bite went after nightcrawlers and were just shy of the 15" legal size.

Catfish continue to move around as they make their way into the deeper waters.

Red Ears and Sunfish can be caught throughout most of the day, and the T-Dock was the hot spot with fish being caught on wax, meal and pieces of nightcrawlers.

The campground was sold out for this holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cooperative with hot days and warm nights. The warm nights were still enjoyed by boaters with Sunday September 1 being the end of the "Night Fishing" season.

Best Catfish Spots: Deeper waters and the buoyline at the tower
Best Catfish Bait: Just about anything this time of year, Mackerel, Chicken Liver, Dough Bait and Nightcrawlers
Best Bass Spots: Points in 20' to 30' of water along the weed line
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crankbaits run shallow for early morning and evening top water and throughout the day using a drop shot. Lake Jennings now has medium size live shiners for bait.
Best Wiper Spots: On the move in schools
Best Wiper Lures/Bait: Crankbaits, Rapalas and Spinners for trolling. For shore fishing or sitting out in a boat use live Shiners or dead Anchovies and Minnows
Best Pan Fish Spots: T-Dock, Cloister and Half Moon Coves
Best Pan Fish Bait: Wax Worms and Meal Worms.

Notables: No limits caught

Prognosis: Bass will be looking for an easy meal with the lake water level being dropped over the weekend. The Wipers seem to be settling in and looking for food. This should start the competition for Shad. Keep an eye out for our Trout Stocking Schedule and one more stocking this month of Wipers.

Water Temperature: 80.5 degrees on surface

Note New Hours:
FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY
OPEN AT 6:00 AM
CLOSE AT 7:30 PM
