Fishing has been fair to good at Lake Jennings

Hello from your Lake Jennings!
Even with the heat, the water temps continue to average between 78.5 and 79 degrees. Once the temps go up a couple more degrees, the top water should pick up but right now there is little to none. This time of year is typically known as the summer doldrums. If fishing for Bass and Wipers stick with the first few hours of daylight and start again around the last hour of daylight and right into the night. With the amount of Wipers put in catching one will be more of a prize fish but there are more to come in the very near future. Catfish are beginning to move out deeper but some are still being caught by shore. Red Ears and Sunfish can be caught from early morning up to mid-day and just before sunset.
The campground finally had a break from being a full house but still very close. Remember that during the week there are less campers and shore fishing is available below the campground. Book now and enjoy the camping and fishing!
Best Catfish Spots: In the coves but soon back to the deeper waters and the buoyline at the tower
Best Catfish Bait: Just about anything this time of year, Mackerel, Chicken Liver, Dough Bait and Nightcrawlers
Best Bass Spots: Points in 15' to 20' of water along the weed line
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crankbaits run shallow for early morning and evening top water and throughout the day using a drop shot with colors like Morning Dawn
Best Wiper Spots: On the move in schools
Best Wiper Lures/Bait: Crankbaits, Rapalas and Spinners for trolling. For shore fishing or sitting out in a boat use live Shad or dead Anchovies and Minnows
Best Pan Fish Spots: Cloister and Half Moon Coves
Best Pan Fish Bait: Wax Worms and Meal Worms.
Notables: Saturday, Conrad Stanton, Lakeside CA, Limit of Catfish, Mackerel, across from boat dock; Saturday, Beck Alirez, La Mesa CA, 8 pound Catfish, Chicken Liver, Buoyline by tower.
Prognosis: With warmer water temps all species will continue to be active. Stay tuned for an exact date but instead of November more Wipers should be arriving towards the end of September and the average size put in so far is 13" but the next stocking will be 15" plus.
Water Temperature: 78.5 degrees on surface
Note New Hours:
Friday: 5:00 PM to Midnight Saturday: 5:30 AM to Midnight
Sunday: 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM

Wipers were introduced into Lake Jennings this week
Lake JenningsHello from your Lake Jennings! Lake Jennings has placed its first 1,200 pounds of Wipers into the lake. Plenty of anglers came out but no reports came in on Wipers being caught. Keep in mind that it will take some time for the introduction to settle in. This time of year can be very productive, and for the second week in a row there were Bass, Cats and Red Ears caught from the fishing float using Nightcrawlers. Thank you to all those...... Read More
