If it's not one species, it's another and this past week was no different from the past month or longer, save for more yellowfin tuna and dorado showing up in the fish counts. High boat for billfish was the "Gaviota XI", reflecting 9 striper releases for their 4 fishing days and included 8 dorado for dinner fare. The "Tuna Time", appropriately named, had the bulk of the yellowfin tuna this past week and reflected a total of 38 yellowfin tuna for the Charles Ogden Family, (Charles, Chase and Josh Ogden, Kansas) 5 dorado to 45 lbs. and 1 striper released, for their two fishing days. The overall combined fishing reports for a total of 29 days fished reflected 38 stripers, (36 released) 2 sailfish released, 1 wahoo, (taken aboard the "Fish Cabo") 64 dorado and 41 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy & hot days with warm evenings and nights that produced varied temps from 76 nights to 97 daytime highs. A bit of a rain drizzle on Monday but just enough to wet the ground. Surface breezes mostly from the northwest at 10-16 mph.

Sea Conditions: Very good fishing conditions throughout the area and on both sides of the peninsula. Temps on the Pacific side from 83-85 from the Finger Bank, down across the Golden Gate & Jaime Bank and around to Cabo Falso. Then rising to 86-88 degrees into the Sea of Cortez.

Best Fishing Area: The entire area is alive with prime action that included billfish, tuna and dorado and the boats could fish in most any direction on any day and have a great fishing day.

Best Lure/Bait: The billfish were taken on both, live bait, artificials and rigged baits and so were some of the dorado. The yellowfin tuna were primarily taken on tuna feathers and cedar plugs.

Bait Supply: Good live bait supply that has held up very well for the past 6 weeks. Mostly caballitos at $3.00 per bait. Frozen ballyhoo baits are still available, too, also at $3.00 each.
