The first day with fly rod in her hand, Lyndi Smith landed this 20" rainbow with our own Geoff Unger at the helm. Way to go Lyndi! We hope to see you again soon.

What an amazing week of dry-fly fishing! Yvon , Mauro and I are finishing work on our book spending lots of time on area rivers, lakes, ponds and streams "researching", as Yvon calls it, doing the last time before the book goes to press. We have had incredible fishing on the Madison and Firehole in the Park as well as a spring creek, mountain stream and a couple small lakes and ponds. The Madison below Hebgen has been very good and this morning we are off to Hebgen and Wade Lakes then back to the Madison for evening caddis. Saturday we will be on the Henry's Fork's RxR Ranch for the opening day, then off to the Fall River and finishing up our "research" which began over a year ago for our book Simple Fly Fishing. The cover of the book is featured in this week's report. This Saturday, 15 June, is an important date for anglers on the Henry's Fork as well as lakes like Yellowstone in the Park and Hidden Lake in Montana as it marks opening day of the new season on these great waters.

Our weather has been cool and damp this week and it looks to continue into the weekend so it would be a great time to load up your fishing gear and head to Yellowstone country for some fine dry-fly fishing. As Cam and I have indicated in our weekly report for the past 2 months, the early season here will be awesome and it has certainly been so! All area waters are in fine shape and fishing very well. Evening caddis are just beginning on the Madison and the PMD's and caddis are in full swing in the park so get here NOW!

Chouinard wanted me to say this, "...all rivers in the Jackson, Wy and Livingston, Mt areas are in runoff and unfishable, so get to West Yellowstone and have some great fishing...."
