Fly of the Week Improved PMD Sparkle Dun

Blue Ribbon Flies

It's been almost 30 years, or so, since Blue Ribbon Introduced the Sparkle Dun. In those three decades, thousands upon thousands of fish have been fooled by this beautiful pattern, and it continues to be one of our top producing flies to this day. Always looking for ways to improve on good ideas in 2002, Craig made some minor improvements to the Sparkle Dun, which provided some major results! Adding a backing of Micro zelon to the deer hair wing helped with floatation as well as visibility, next a tuft of soft quail marabou was added to the zelon shuck to improve the illusion of the struggle for freedom of an emerging dun from its nymphal shuck. A new variation on a proven pattern was born, once again giving the angler another option on difficult fish.
