If you enjoy dry fly-fishing get here quick! I try and get out every afternoon and evening through the month of June and we are just now getting into some of the best dry-fly fishing of the year. Caddis, mayflies, stone flies and beetles are brining up big fish now on rivers like the Madison, Firehole and Henry's Fork. Let's get to this week's report so I can finish it up and get on the water! The Madison in the Park is fishing very well now during PMD and BWO emergences daily from noon to 4PM. When the weather is inclement the mayflies will come off in numbers and big fish rise to them daily. Look for a few salmon flies during the day and caddis in the evenings when the weather is sunny and warm as the forecast calls for this weekend. #20 BWO Sparkle Duns and Foam Emergers are your ticket to taking lots of fish on the surface during mayfly times. When caddis on the water you should have Iris and X2's in tan. During non-hatch periods have BWP Tungsten Bead Nymphs and Micro Madison Baetis and PMD Mayfly Nymphs as well as Tan and Olive Soft Hackle Caddis Emergers. PMD Spinner falls will become important on warm-calm morning this weekend so be prepared with a PMD spinner.

The Madison river between the lakes is fishing well with midges and Baetis and big streamers near the mouth of Quake Lake. Have a Sheila's Sculpin in yellow and pheasant plume and you will hook some very large browns. The Madison below Quake Lake is your best bet for lots of big rainbows and browns now. Baetis are coming in waves beginning at 1pm daily when the weather is cool and damp. Last night the final emergence of Baetis came around 6pm and lasted for an hour, the 4th hatch of the day! Our #18 Tungsten Baetis Nymph trailed behind a rubber leg stone works when the duns are not coming off but when the duns are on the water have a BWO Foam Emerger and Sparkle Dun and you will take several fine rising fish from the Slide to Ennis!

The Firehole in the Park is fishing well during Baetis and PMD times. The first 2 days of the new season saw very few insects but the past several days both duns are coming off in numbers down steam of Midway. White Miller Caddis have not been much of a factor so far but will be as the weather warms this weekend so be prepared with imitations like our White Miller Soft Hackle Emerger, X and Fluttering White Miller patterns.

The Gibbon is fishing with big streamers and Royal Wulff Cripples. Its golden stone hatch is just around the corner so a rubber leg nymph pattern is a must now too.

The Henry's Fork has been good in the Box and near Swarm River with stone nymphs, RAMS Caddis and White Soft Hackle streamers. A few Beatis and March Browns are coming off as are afternoon and evening caddis which will get stronger with warming weather arriving. Lakes are fishing very well. Still not much word on any big fish coming from Henry's but they show this week into next. Small PT and Callibaetis Nymphs have been good bets as have leeches like our Hal Bop.

Hebgen's famous midge fishing during late afternoon and evening hours has been on hold with the wet weather lately but this weekend the frenzy should return. Check with us for current conditions on this lake as well as Cliff and Wade.
