Huge 38 pound monster catfish caught at Corona Lake
6-7-2013
Jim Matthews
The catfish bite has bite has been red hot at Corona Lake. Anglers watching the website stocking videos will see 3 separate stockings for that week alone at Corona Lake.
Heaviest fish of the week was a 38 lbs. 9/16 oz. monster catfish caught and safely released back into Corona Lake by Julio Urutia of Placentia. Julio was using Whoopass Catfish Bait at J.D.'s point.
The person that catches the biggest catfish between Corona Lake and Santa Ana River Lakes by Sept. 1st, 2013, will get a private invitation for himself and 5 buddies, to go to Imperial Catfish Farm to catch and keep enough catfish to fill a HUGE 96 quart ice chest. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that has never been done before and can't be done anywhere else!! Details will be posted on www.fishinglakes.com soon. Right now, Julio is in the lead with his 38 9/16 pounder but there are much bigger catfish in the Lakes and Imperial Catfish has the biggest channel and blue catfish in California for the exclusive stocking into Corona Lake.
Carlos & Kevin Aktaro of San Bernardino landed 16 catfish totaling a massive 72 pounds. The team's largest cat weighed in at 6 1/2 pounds fishing in the trees using mackerel. Bryce Edlund, James & Steve Anna of Trabuco Canyon caught 21 catfish totaling 51 lbs. 8 oz. with the biggest cat weighing in at 8 pounds. The angler trio were fishing in a boat at the center of the lake using mackerel.
Daniel Robertson of Huntington landed 7 catfish totaling 37 pounds with his heaviest fish at 7 pounds using shrimp of a boat. Corona Lake is open seven-days-a-week and has 24 hour overnight fishing/camping sessions every weekend during the summer. New lower prices check www.fishinglakes.com for price slashes on the Big Summer Friends & Family discount special. The more friends and family you bring fishing, the greater the combined savings will be.
