Del Valle Marina
Marina Hours: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
Park Hours: 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Last Plant: On May 21, 2013 1,000 lbs. of Trout from Mt. Lassen were planted. On May 24, 2013 750 lbs. of Trout from Mt. Lassen were planted.
Water Temperature: 71 Degrees at the Dock
Water Level: The water level is at full capacity right now.
Water Clarity: The water clarity is good to about 10' in most areas.
This week has been very strange as far as weather goes. On Tuesday we had swells to 3 to 4 ft. that stirred everything up. People are still catching fish though. The Trout and Catfish bite is good with PowerEgg or nightcrawlers. Smallmouth Bass were biting on Green Senkos. Stripers have been biting Rat-L-Traps and Spooks. See Doc Al's Fish Report below.
Doc Al's Fish Report:
Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Al Lev of Sunnyvale caught 3 Rainbow Trout, the largest weighing 3 lbs. They also caught 4 Striped Bass, the largest being 2.5 lbs. The largest trout was caught in a cove of Heron Bay casting a Rapala near the surface by the boat. Being in calmer water out of the wind seemed to help. In contrast, most of the Stripers were caught in open water in Swallow Bay using 2 colors of leaded line putting the lure about 15 ft. below the surface. While the Rainbow seem to like the calmer water out of the wind, the Striper bite seemed best with breezy conditions in a 30 ft. water column. We lost 2 other fish including a nice Rainbow. It was a good day as usual, the staff oand boat rental equipment were outstanding.
