Dorado catches were the fish of the week for Puerto Morelos and the Aries VIII was high boat for the week with a total of 17 dorado for their anglers, along with 1 white marlin, 1 sailfish, 3 wahoo, 1 giant barracuda and 2 bonito. Overall, the fishing has been very good for the anglers in this area and the combined reports for a total of 27 days fished reflected 5 white marlin, 3 sailfish, 5 wahoo, 25 bonito, 6 giant Atlantic barracuda, 52 dorado, 13 snapper, 2 soap fish, 1 banana fish and 5 amberjack. According to Ms. Nayade Gamboa, our area reporter, the water temps have increased throughout the area, attracting more and more dorado, most of which have been quality sizes in the 15-30 lb. ranges. This past week we saw more cubera snappers in the mix and a slight increase in the wahoo count.

PM Climate: A sun cloud mix with nice warm days and very pleasant evenings with temps that ranged from 75 nights to 88 daytime highs, along with light surface breezes from the east.

Sea Conditions: Excellent sea temps that are stable at 82-83 degrees throughout the entire area. Clarity is superb and the surface breezes continue to flow from the easterly directions at about 10-15 mph.

Best Bait/Lure: The seemingly always available ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice for the anglers and the crew in this area and over the past 5 years, fresh rigging baits have been provided every boat, every day, barring port closures and inclement weather conditions.
