The Oroville Reservoir Bass are in all stages of spawn, which is perfect for the Spring bite

Ron Gandolfi
To say the least this has been a wild Spring and it is not over yet. In the last two weeks many clients have caught many 2 pound plus bass and many up to three pounds like this beautiful spot caught by Ross Jackson this last week.
Oroville is now going though all phases of spawn. In the last three days we have had pre- spawn, spawn, and post spawn bass. Last Sat. I took a 4.29 lb. Spot that was post spawn. I would have loved to had it a couple of weeks earlier.
The water temp is now in the upper 50's and low 60's which makes it perfect for the spring bite!! The top water bite is also picking up as I had one of my clients take several bass on spooks this week. A lot of you love the top water bite and it is more consistent now in low light conditions or shade lines. It will get better and as the water temps get warmer.
The lake level is now at 29 feet from the top however it looks like it just turned and is dropping now. The reaction bite will be in full swing with the temps warming and the mud lines forming from the increased boat activity. It is a great time to throw swim baits, blades, crank baits and one of my favorites is the lipless crank bait.
For more information or to book a trip just email me or give me a call.
Best regards,
Ron
