Helix Ranger
Hello from your Lake Jennings: We will be open next Monday, President's Day. Lake opens Monday @ 5:45 AM closes for fishing at 6:15 PM The trout continued to find their appetite. It was still limited to the Eagle Cove area. You could cast from the Cactus Patch side or the Eagle Point side. Like last week Salmon Peach Power Bait, dropshotting orange Power Worms and inflated night crawlers are the stringer trifecta. We also have some channel cats coming from the channel in Hermit Cove for a couple of shore anglers. As usual for this time of the year, the dam buoyline is working for boats. The bass bite has been very good for ice jiggers. Some shore anglers have been also doing well using dropshotted 4" worms.
Best Catfish Spots: Hermit cove channel and anywhere along the dam buoyline
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel and chicken livers. Use scent liberally
Best Bass Spots: 40 to 50 ft. of water on the points
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Orange crush worms and ice jigs in 50 ft. on the points
Best Trout Spots: Eagle Cove in 50 ft. of water
Best Trout Bait: The bait that catches the most trout is a 2 way tie: Salmon Peach Power Bait and crawlers
Prognosis: We will stock another 1000 lbs. of Sierra 'Bows on Tuesday Feb.12, 2013. The water temp is 58 and is ideal for active trout. Interestingly the afternoon water temp gets up to 60 degrees. Some bass are moving up shallow but move back to deeper water. Most 1's and 2's are caught in 50 ft. of water on the points. Larger fish can be seen shallow around the boat dock, some with trout tails sticking out of their mouth. Don't stop fishing for cats because the water is cold. Just fish deep!
Water Temperature: 58 degrees on surface.
Last Plant: 1,000 lbs. February 11, 2013
Next Plant: 1,000 lbs. February 18, 2013
