Fish Report for 1-28-2013
Trout fishing is very good at Cachuma Lake, with a good number of limits
1-28-2013
Cachuma Lake Staff
Trout fishing at Lake Cachuma was a little slower this week although there were still a good number of limits taken home. The best approach was to flat line a Rapala lure or similar minnow imitation. The fish are pretty well dispersed as trout were caught from the dam to Arrowhead Island. Shore anglers used PowerBait and inflated nightcrawlers to take fish to 6 lbs. E Point was the best location, although anglers also scored in the Mohawk area and marina point.
A few whiskerfish were taken during the storm where run-off entered the lake. The bait that was used was a fly-lined mackerel. There were reports of Carp on the surface in Cachuma Bay. Bass fishing is still on the tough side. The only fish that were caught required a lot of effort on jigs and drop shot. All other species went unreported.
