The red hot bite at Cachuma Lake has slowed some this week
1-21-2013
Cachuma Lake Staff
Most anglers did get some nice trout, to 8 lbs. Flat-lined Rapalas in C.D. 3 and C were the hottest baits. Other bait that worked included Kastmasters, krocodiles and similar spoons. Fishing from shore was fair at Marina point, E Point and Mohawk pier. Floating nightcrawlers and Powerbait worked best for the shore anglers.
Bass fishing is still on the slow side. The bass that are being caught can be found off the main points in 15 to 25 feet of water. The bass are biting best on jigs or drop shot plastics. A few Carp were seen mid-morning at Arrowhead island, but since the last cold snp they have been hard to find. All other species were absent from the counts.
