Trout fishing was the best this week at Lake Cachuma and the Bass bite might be improving a touch

Trout fishing was hit or miss this week at Cachuma Lake. Some anglers pulled in new limits trolling Rapalas from Santa Cruz Bay down toward Arrowhead Island. Shore anglers did best from Murietta Point, E Point or Teepee Island using PowerBait or nightcrawlers. Without a doubt the best time to fish was in the early morning t the late afternoon.

Bass fishing was tough though it did show signs of improvement compared to last week. You'll find the Bass at around 25' of water. They will bite creature baits and drop shots with a slow presentation. Bowfishing has been productive in stormy conditions as the carp come up from the depths to feed on insect larva. There were few Catfish reported in the back of the Narrows using either nightcrawlers or mackerel. All panfish have been no-shows this week.
