Fish Report for 12-31-2012
The bite at Lake Skinner slowed slightly with the cold front we have seen
12-31-2012
Lake Skinner Marina Staff
The water temperature at Lake Skinner was between 55 to 58 degrees and the fishing was similar to last week. The Striper bite is slowing on shad and we saw the best activity in deep water toward the Inlet. Trolling umbrella rigs will work really well. Trout swimbait, hallow body lures, flukes, Rapala and stick lures will all be effective.
The best activity for Trout was on the shoreline near Ramp 2. Bluegill is still best in the deepest part of the lake. On these cloudy cold days if you are targeting Largemouth Bass, you'll find the fish up in the reeds cruising in a pre-spawn routine. Some small fish will be caught on plastics. Try crawdad colored crank baits, or some shad action with a lot of work. Catfish are hitting on shad in deep water by the inlet reeds. However, this bite has slowed way down with the cold water. The next trout plant will be on january 4, 2013.
