The inlet water is on again after a huge drop in the Lake Skinner water level. The water temperature is between 55 and 58 degrees. This combined with the cloudy days has really improved the Striper bite. The stripers are slowing on the shad bite only in deep water towards the inlet. Trolling with umbrella rigs will always work. Trout swimbait, hallow body lures, flukes and Rapala stick lures have all pulled in some monsters this week.

Trout: The hot spot to catch trout has been near Ramp 2. Then the trout seemed to scatter and can now be found all over the lake. Most of the trout that were caught have been around 2 lbs. and the best bait is either nightcrawlers or PowerBait.

Bluegill: The Bluegill that have been caught are found in the deepest part of the lake. Some real beauties have been caught using crickets with little effort.

Largemouth Bass: Can be found on these cold cloudy days up tight to the shoreline by the reeds just cruising along in a pre-spawn routine. Some small fish have been caught on plastics. Try crawdad colored crank baits or lures with a shad action.

Catfish: The kitties have been hitting on shad in deep water by the reeds. This bite has slowed as the water has gotten colder.

The next trout plant will be on January 4th.
