Wohlford Lake Staff
Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Open seven days a week.
Dock Closes: 4:30 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout Thursday, December 27th.
Next Plant: 1,500 lbs. of Rainbow trout Wednesday, January 9th
Water Temperature: At surface 54.32 f., 3.30 D.O. @ 15' 54.86 f., 3.32 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day Bass boats are available Mon-Thurs for 35$ each.
Back to back plants have resulted in some of the best Trout fishing of the season thus far. Limits are being reported along Senior Shoreline and in Boat Dock Cove. Paul Eddo of Escondido had the biggest Trout of the week at 7.30#s caught in Boat Dock Cove on a mouse tail. Sam Avila of Vista came in second with a 5.20# rainbow caught on a nightcrawler in Oakvale Cove.
The winter Catfish bite continues to astound as yet another enormous Blue Catfish was hauled to the scales. Keo Sitth of Escondido padded his lead in the whopper contest with a 33.70# cat that bested the 25# whisker fish he caught the week before. Mr. Sitth was using mackerel near the West Buoy Line. Any angler interested in catching the biggest Catfish they have seen outside of the show River Monsters might want to pay us a visit in the near future while these plus sized blues continue to feed.
