The best way to describe it is, "WOW", a fishing anomaly for the anglers from Puerto Morelos, providing a terrific Christmas bite on sailfish. Very unusual for this area considering the sailfish season usually starts about mid-April and runs through mid-June, with May being the peak month of the year. According to our area reporter, Ms. Nayade Gamboa, the sailfish action was unquestionably the highlight of the fishing week and it has been a very welcome Christmas present for some of our anglers. The overall fish counts for a total of 23 days fished reflected 8 sailfish, 5 dorado, 4 giant Atlantic barracuda, 26 bonito, 4 Spanish mackerel, 5 king mackerel, 3 amberjack, 10 triggerfish, 7 snappers, 6 banana fish, 5 strawberry fish, 2 coronados and 31 grouper.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy but toasty warm days with temps ranging from 63 nights to 85 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Near excellent sea conditions with stable sea temps at 81 degrees and light surface breezes, coupled with excellent clarity throughout the area.

Bait Supply: Nothing changes the bait supply for this area as it remains plentiful with ballyhoo caught fresh daily and the bait of choice for all of the crews.
