The high boat again this past week was the "Tuna Time", releasing 7 stripers for 4 days fished, (2 full days and 2 half days) and 12 dorado. The "Gaviota IX" also had a 7 striper catch for 6 days fished, along with 16 dorado. The "Fish Cabo", reporting in for 5 days fished reflected 6 stripers released, 62 Sierra, 2 wahoo, 8 dorado and 14 skipjack tuna. The overall combined fish counts for a total of 28 days fished reflected 26 stripers, (24 released) 3 wahoo, 74 dorado, 14 skipjack tuna and 65 Sierra, (Spanish mackerel). I talked with Roberto Marquez, the owner of Fish Cabo, and he explained they were out today and saw many, many tailing billfish but were unable to get any biters. He also said there was a change in the weather today and that the NW wind had kicked-up a little and making it much more difficult on the Pacific side of Cabo where the bulk of the fish have been. Up to now, the seas have been very calm and near perfect fishing conditions.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy skies throughout the tip of Baja with temps that ranged from a cool 55 degree mornings & evenings to 76 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: The Pacific side, from the Golden Gate Bank to Cabo San Lucas, reflects sea temps at 78 degrees and from Cabo San Lucas to Gorda Banks, falling to 77 degrees. All of the warmer waters are out to the south of Cabo at about 18-20 miles or so and climbs to 80-81 degrees. Mostly light & variable surface breezes and light swell activity on both sides of the peninsula with exception to today, when the NW wind created a P.M. wind-chop situation.

Best Fishing Area: The Cabo Falso drop-off has been the hot spot for the billfish but according to Captain Roberto Marquez, the fish are incredibly finicky biters and very difficult to get'em to bite.

Best Bait/Lure: Live bait is a must for the drift fishing style being used.

Live Bait Supply: Excellent supply of bait and it has been easy to replenish the supply with mackerel at the Cabo Falso Drop-Off.
