The Cats are on the prowl at Lake Poway

Lake Poway Staff

The cats are on the prowl here at Lake Poway! The center barrel on the Log Boom and East end of the Log Boom have been the most productive spots. The water temperature is 68 degrees and falling quickly. Jeff Kopischke of Chula Vista and Johnn Roche of San Diego, pictured above each caught their limits of channel catfish (Jeff 15 pounds and Johnn 10 pounds) on the East end of the Log Boom using mackerel on the bottom on Sunday, November 3. Many limits are being caught on the Boom and on the Fishing Float. The bass are deep and shallow and there seems to be no rhyme or rhythm. Swimbaits and large plastic worms are working deep in places like the first two barrels on the Log Boom and the Rock Pile off of Jump-Off Point. Creature baits like plastic crawdads and Ikas are working from shore and from the Fishing Float. Dallin Skawsen of San Diego, Photo #1 caught 1.2 pound panfish on the Fishing Float on Saturday, November 2 using a nightcrawler. I've noticed more of the larger ones hanging around there lately so bring your meal worms and give it a try!

Just as a reminder, the opener for our monster Tailwalker rainbow trout will be November 21, 2012. The concession stand will also remain closed as the new owner is making repairs and many interior changes. It will be well worth the wait and will hopefully be up and running by trout season. But it the meantime, bring your own bait and snacks. For a full report and more pictures and information go to http://www.poway.org/lakepoway and click on fish report or call 858-668-4772.
