Catfish is still the best opportunity at Cachuma Lake. The best bait to use is fly lined mackerel, packaged dough bait and 'crawlers are all producing some nice stringers, with some to 4 lbs. The narrows, Jack rabbit and Little Cachuma Bay are all holding fish.

The bass bite has been day to day. The evening is the best time if you want to fish for bass. Jigs, spinnerbait, crankbait and drop shot have all produced at times.

Crappie action is fair on mini-jigs and small spinners in Santa Cruz Bay or the narrows.

Trout came on a little bit last week for shore anglers in the Mohawk area. Trollers, however, did not do well. The first 4,000 lb. trout plant is scheduled for November 1 from Calaveras Trout farm. That should help the bite get going.

Bowfishing has been good for those willing to put in the effort. Carp have been seen along the banks and shallow coves all over the lake. Mid-morning is the best time to get in on the action.
