The sailfish are starting to cooperate for the anglers and the catch rate for the offshore fishing was 100% this past week with the Aries VII landing 2 sailfish for a single day charter. The numbers of charters is at a summer low for the fleet for both, inshore and offshore fishing, with both areas perking up considerably this past week. The overall catch report for the offshore fishing reflected 5 sailfish for 4 charters, along with 5 bonito and 3 dorado. The inshore super pangas were doing very well with their groups and reported 12 corvina, (to 15 lbs.) 17 dorado, (to 25 lbs.) 12 red snapper and 4 roosterfish (released) for their 6 days fished. Overall, it was good fishing for both, the inshore and offshore fleet and should get better & better as we move into the fall fishing season in the Sea of Cortez.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days with periods of intermittent sunshine and temps that ranged from 73 nights to 89 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Terrific! Water temps are holding stable at 87-88 throughout the area and the clarity is excellent in the offshore fishing areas. It has been a mostly flat-calm week for the anglers.

Best Fishing Area: Out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, from about 18-19 miles or so and outbound from there.

Best Lure/Bait: The rigged baits have been best for the sailfish and dorado in the offshore waters.

Bait Supply: Remains very plentiful for this area with good live bait and fresh caught rigging baits available everyday.
