Lake Conditions:
Surface Temp: 70.3 and 65.7 @ 20 ft. There's warmer water in the coves and shallow end of lake.
Water Clarity: Visibility is to 3' to 5'

. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.

Trout: Rainbows are being caught in the deeper waters. Garison Lively from Chula Vista weighed in with a 21lb 10oz limit at Pumphouse cove. Randy Minnear and Robert Wilson paired up to claim 12lbs of rainbows in Paradise cove using Peach powerbait. Jessie and Morgan, pictured above from Bonita fooled 15lbs of trout with powerbait 'all over the place'.

Bass: The combo of Craven/Crawford from Santucky caught and released 16 bass, the largest being 2 lb 8 oz using (now get this) Red Flake Ox Blood plastics near Goat Island and trolling the narrows.

Catfish: Plenty of whiskers are being fooled in the brush near the shoreline. The 'dip' near the boat dock is easy access and has produced cats that can't escape to the brush. It is best to beef up your line when attempting these monsters. Jim Hill from Campo was able to pull in a limit near Goat Island.

Blue Gill: The Gills are popping up all around the shoreline using small hooks and large meal worms. You may catch a few while rigged for crappie.

Crappie: The 'dip' near the boat dock with its boulders works really well. Rig up your favorite lead-heads. Color doesn't seem to matter.

Carp: None reported this week but evidence of the discarded were found about the lake and fish cleaning house.
