In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The Trout fishing remains good, but could sour if this weekend's storm is large enough to produce significant run-off to cloud the water. Mike Holden, pictured of Encinitas can claim bragging rights for the week with his 9.50# Trout caught on a gold kastmaster on Senior Shoreline. Second place goes to Felix Lopez with a 7.60# fish caught on spring green powerbait west of Senior Shoreline. Rounding out the top three is Fausto Barron's 5.05# Trout caught on a nightcrawler also on Senior Shoreline. Powerbaits & powerworms (greens and yellows) along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

The Bass have finally moved in and are preparing to spawn. Richard Fridell of Escondido caught and released a 6.95# Bass Thursday he landed on a swimbait at the South Shore Rock Pile. It is mostly small to medium sized Bass, males working on their nests, right now, but the larger females won't be far behind. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.

When the lilac is in bloom on the surrounding hillsides it often heralds in the appearance of the Black Crappie. Rick Hatch experimenting with a variety of Crappie jigs weighed in a 1.90# Crappie on Sunday fishing near Crappie Rock and followed it up with a pair of 1.70# pan-fish on Thursday.
