NEW MR. BIG ON BOARD!!! Today I'd have to say was a little different than the past few. For one thing, the wind that has been on the verge of excessive the whole time we've been here, crossed the line today, and I felt a little like I was back home. Remember that's St. Louis so that's a bad thing! The morning bite of course went off as scheduled, but was not nearly as chaotic as it's been. Fewer tuna came in, but the size was consistent with what we've been getting. Later in the morning Roger Hawtree who has been consistently finding big fish on this trip where others can't, landed a new leader for heaviest fish with a kite caught 209. Several other low 100s came off the kite and Tammie Ludington got one of that size on chunk. The wahoo found us several times today and a few times hit with abandon. As usual, several were of outstanding size. At the risk of being too optimistic it appears that things may be changing a little for the better. We saw a lot more bird life today, and found a very nice school of larger tuna who unfortunately did not want to cooperate today. But tomorrow who knows? We also seemed to scratch out a few more tuna in the afternoon which is an improvement over the last few days. Oh well, only one way to find out if it's going to start getting great, I guess we'll just have to get up and do it all over again tomorrow. Ahw, poor us. Final fish count of the day was 31 tuna and 28 wahoo.
POEM OF THE DAY:
A scientist who wasn't too bright
Crossed a wahoo and dog just for spite
It can swim and retrieve
But you better believe
That its bark can't compare to its bite.
