CARBON COPY (021612)!!! I know I must sound like a broken record but that's just the way things are out here. Today was so much like yesterday that for the most part, only the names have been changed. To save you from looking back to yesterday's report, I'll briefly summarize. Like clock work the best bite of the day went off around 4 A.M. and ended at first light. My theory is that these are vampire tuna, and afraid of the sun light. The size was as it has been, with the majority of fish on the small size, a very few around 70, and as happened yesterday, one superior fish slipped in the mix. This morning it was a 170 pounder caught on bait by Jonathan Jeffers. During the day we once again scratched some excellent wahoo and Kathy Rounds caught probably the largest of the day on iron. The kite action was quite poor today, accounting for a few wahoo and some medium size tuna. The bright spot of the afternoon was a 150 pound bait fish tuna landed by Sterling Tanouye. The poor fish must have been very lonely as he came from a spot that otherwise appeared uninhabited. Even the daily fish count was almost identical to yesterday, with 59 tuna and 20 wahoo to show for our nearly round the clock efforts. Good fisherman never lose hope that the fish of a life time is just around the corner so there won't be any one slacking off here any time soon. Big D tells me to let every one know that this trip is indeed being digitally captured, and when satellite connections are strong enough there will many pictures posted. POEM OF THE DAY: I worked the tuna close in And he actually started to grin When stuck with the gaff He said with a laugh "Body piercing's just SO IN!"

STILL SCRATCHING (021612)!!! Today was a lot like yesterday, but we're deep enough into the trip now, that they all seem to run together. Unless you've got a daily pill organizer (and who among us doesn't!), there's really now way to even know the day of the week, and as for the time, you find yourself wondering if the next meal is dinner, or have we had lunch yet. Ok, enough rambling, it's the fishing you want to know about....... Read More

HARD DAY OF FISHING (021512)!!! The day started very early on the R.P., and we had a good bite going by 4 A.M. Unfortunately we still haven't found the size of fish we are hoping for and the majority of this morning's fish were in the 30 to 70 pound range. As has been the case so far this trip, the majority of the larger fish are coming off the kite, and although we couldn't reach the 200 mark today, we...... Read More
