Margaret & Ray Johnson brought their family to Collins Lake for another annual fishing trip and Ray ended up catching his Biggest Collins Lake Trout ever-a 7 lb. 12 oz. by the dam on Powerbait. The Foulke, Jensen, & Corrie families joined in with the Johnsons and caught almost 3 limits of Trout. It was a great "joint effort". The Livingston's & Cutlers slayed the trout fishing from the dock using their "special bait" peppermente. I don't think it's sold in stores!! The Whorton family from Petaluma caught fish everyday of their camping trip. Tyler & Wade celebrated Wade's Birthday with a limit of trout, it doesn't get any better than that! They used worms and fished near the 5mph buoys. Well yes it did get better, 2 days later Wade netted a huge Rainbow Trout that weighed 6 lb. 12 oz. He trolled just worms off his downrigger near the dam. And BETTER YET, he won the 50/50 Derby with the Biggest Fish of the Week entered in the Derby.

John Perry of Yuba City lands an 8 lb. 3 oz. Trout near the stream up past the bridge. John was flyfishing but I'm not sure what kind of fly he had on his line. What a great surprise for him though...

Mary Gini was bank fishing near her site for trout and also got a nice surprise, it was a 6 lb. 12 oz. Catfish that took her Powerbait. Mike & Caleb Hanrihan & Ciara picked up a limit of trout from the dock using Powerbait. Matt Crespin caught a cajun Catfish with a Hot Cheeto wrapped in Chicken Livers that weighed 5 lb. 8 oz. Matt, you are a funny guy.P. J. and Ava Weaver successfully caught Crappie right off the boat dock using live minnows. P.J. also landed a hefty 6 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow on live minnows!

Jan Valtr Sr. was trout fishing with a #14 Dough Bait Hook and 4# test line and brought in a 12 lb. 4 oz. Catfish on Powerbait. It was about a 20 minute struggle but glad to say Jan won that round. Jack, Vanessa, Harold, & Marg fished near the bridge drifting Powerbait and brought home 8 Rainbow Trout.

The pattern this week was Powerbait or worms for still fishing and worms & flashers for trolling (at about 30 ft. down) It looks like it did slow down a bit with the surface temperature at 78 degrees you will need to go deeper or shore fishermen should get an early start. Nightfishing has always been good as well.
