Eric Hunter ended his week long camping trip with a 9 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow Trout catch! To top that off he won the weekly derby and got a check for $62.50 for his fabulous catch! Eric was trolling with worms and Powerbait near the dam. The day before he and his sons, Jesse & Jimmy picked up 4 decent Rainbows up by the bridge trolling flashers & worms. From what we are hearing most of the trout are being caught from boats at either end of the lake which is up by the bridge (that's the north end) or down by the dam (that's the south end) of our lake. The channel runs closest to this side so trolling just off the buoy line on the side that you launch is the best bet. Trollers are using lures or worms and going down 20 to 25 feet. Trolling as slow as you can has its advantages. John Bouillon of Sacramento was trolling a Rapala and landed a 5 lb. Bass. Surprise, surprise!! He was going for trout but this time of year anything goes. Rapalas worked wonders for TEAM MOJO who trolled the channel and took home 10 TROUT for supper. Dave Zaski and sons netted 2 huge Catfish while nightfishing. Their biggest 13 lb. 4 oz. and a 7 pounder as well....

I always hear the story about "the one that got away" but I had to laugh when my friend John Dani actually had that happen twice this weekend. He had a "takedown" at the dam just near dark and could only assume it was a trout. The next day when he and his kids and sister Beth went to the bridge fishing for Bass when he had a huge Bass latch onto his worm and wouldn't let go for an hour. The drag on his reel was loosened and every time he tried to tighten it the line would act like it was going to snap off. Finally it did just that, it snapped !! We heard about that story all night long!!

Dave Kahn & friend Chris night fished off the docks and caught 32 Crappie and 9 trout and Dave always used mini jigs for bait. Gideon & Dean each left with a limit of Trout on 6/2 and on 6/3 Daniel joined them and they caught 9 more trout. They trolled with green Powerbait near the bridge on both days. Cole & Skyler shared in their delight over a Bass they caught on worms that weighed almost 2 pounds. Bear, Zack, Rosco, & Mr. Figgins joined forces near the dam and captured 10 Trout on Salmon Eggs!!

Ron Shackelford & Mike Sedillo had a fantastic fishing day here at Collins Lake. They left here with a Catfish that weighed 9 lb. 4 oz. and 4 huge trout (biggest was 5 lb. 8 oz.) and the trolled by the dam using Nightcrawlers!! The next day Larry Pierce of Rio Linda aced the biggest trout of the day on a Sep's blade and worm, trolling 40 feet down he caught an 8 lb. Rainbow!! Setuli, Hannah & her brother Zack had a memorable day of fishing also. Their stringer held a nice big 4 pounder and 8 Trout total and they used Powerbait from the shoreline.
